My Philosophy

I believe that as members of our family, dogs deserve to be treated that way.  In my training, I don’t rely on micromanaging a dog’s behavior – I find the root cause of an inappropriate behavior and work to solve it.  I respect that dogs have emotions that create problem behaviors like reactivity, jumping, fearfulness, pulling on a leash, and separation anxiety.  Instead of punishing the behavior I’ll change the emotion that causes it so the dog will learn to choose good behaviors on their own.

About Maddy

Maddy is a native New Hampshirite who recently returned to her home state after a decade in Vermont.  She moved back with her partner Aaron and her beloved rescue dogs Roger (cattle dog mix) and Pepper (pit mix).  She started Maple Run Dog Camp in 2019 after being inspired by the work of Vermont Dog Pack.  After learning how much happier dogs are when they have the opportunity to spend time unleashed and build confidence through outdoor adventures and relationships with other dogs, Maddy decided to use her skills to create a community of happy, well-adjusted, confident dogs.

When she’s not immersed in the world of dogs, she’s a pretty awesome amateur baker and scrappy DIY-er.  She’s also an intermittent naturalist and an undercover barista.

“Maddy has been a huge help in keeping our dogs exercised and even does additional training during their walks. Her knowledge into the training of dogs, including regular skills, introducing them to new dogs, and e-collar training, is extensive and she has worked wonders for both our pups”
